The Application Emerging Climate Leaders Fellowship

The Application’s Emerging Climate Leaders Fellowship is a four-week professional development experience designed for 20 ambitious college students from across the United States who are interested in building careers in climate change, clean energy, sustainability, and related fields.

Hosted through The Application’s Vanessa Y. Parker Research Institute, the fellowship provides participants with opportunities to broaden their knowledge, develop career-ready skills, expand their professional networks, and engage directly with leading practitioners working across the climate and clean energy ecosystem.

An Interdisciplinary Approach to Climate Leadership

Addressing climate change requires talent from across disciplines. Climate Fellows are drawn from a wide range of academic backgrounds, including political science, engineering, business administration, biology, communications, agriculture, urban planning, environmental studies, marine science, transportation, public policy, and other fields.

Through partnerships with leading climate, sustainability, and clean energy organizations across the country, Fellows engage with prominent partners of The Application and a network of practitioners working on some of today’s most important environmental challenges.

Throughout the four-week experience, Fellows explore areas such as green jobs, clean energy, sustainable transportation, climate and sustainability policy, environmental innovation, resilient communities, and emerging career opportunities. Fellows also gain insight into the skills, experiences, and professional pathways that can prepare them to enter and lead within these growing industries.

A Community of Emerging Leaders

Admission to the Emerging Climate Leaders Fellowship is highly competitive. Each cohort brings together 20 ambitious, curious, and forward-thinking individuals who are committed to learning, building meaningful careers, and contributing to a more sustainable future.

This is a paid fellowship. Fellows who successfully complete all program requirements will receive a stipend at the conclusion of the four-week fellowship.

Fellows leave the program with greater exposure to the climate and clean energy workforce, stronger professional connections, and a clearer understanding of how their individual skills and academic backgrounds can contribute to addressing climate challenges.
